Bay Media Celebrates 25 Years of Out-of-Home Advertising

18th June 2024

Bay Media, the UK's leading lamppost banner advertiser, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. From its humble beginnings above an old Barclays Bank, Bay Media has grown into a thriving business with 35 employees and a presence in six countries.

Founded in 1999, Bay Media introduced high-quality lamppost banner advertising to the UK market. Despite the challenges of navigating the complexities of UK councils, the company secured its first major contract with the London Borough of Sutton in 2001. Since then, Bay Media has grown to work with over two-thirds of the councils in the UK.

The company's success lies in its ability to balance the needs of its two primary customers: the councils and private landlords who utilise their services, and the advertisers who use their products. Bay Media's diverse client base spans various sectors, including events, tourism, education, councils, retail, and theatres.

Over the years, Bay Media has expanded its offerings, acquiring a substantial inventory of 6 sheet posters and launching AirDressing®, an award-winning large-format advertising solution for shopping centres. The company's commitment to research and innovation has resulted in multiple patents and the refinement of its core StormSpill® product.

Bay Media has contributed to major events such as the London 2012 Olympics, the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference. The company has also expanded internationally, launching Bay Media France in 2016 and recently expanding into the German market.

Sustainability has become an increasingly important focus for Bay Media, with initiatives like the Bay Forest Project and achieving accreditation under the Planet Mark program. As the company looks ahead to the next 25 years, it remains committed to adapting to challenges, delivering exceptional results for clients, and minimising its environmental impact.
